Our little "peace" of the planet is nestled in the gently rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Fauquier County, Virginia. Our 7 1/2 acres are bounded on the west by a rocky spring fed stream -- Blackwell Springs Run -- hence our farm name, Springs Run. We are home to a small herd of miniature goats, two lovable nubian does, one bodacious border collie/aussie cross and three adopted cats. We purchased our first two miniature goats, Nigerian Dwarves in the spring of 1998 and were completely smitten by these tiny dairy goats. Since then we've added a few Mini Nubians and Miniature Silky Fainting goats, also known as Mini Silkies, a new breed that is currently still under development. While we really enjoyed raising the Nigerians, most of our beloved Nigerian Dwarf herd is now retired and our focus is primarily on establishing a small select herd of beautiful long coated Mini Silkies. |
