All of our Mini Silkies are registered with the MSFGA (Miniature Silky Fainting Goat Association).
Reservations and Shipping: If you would like to reserve a kid from a particular breeding, please let us know and you will be notified as soon as babies arrive. We don't take deposits on kids before they are born because we like for prospective buyers to at least see photos before they make a final decision. Once a decision is made to buy an animal, we will ask for half the purchase price as a deposit until pick-up or shipping arrangements can be made. The balance will be due prior to shipping or at the time of pick-up.
Goats may be picked up at the farm, transported to shows we are attending or air shipped. We ship out of Dulles International Airport. All shipping fees and fees for health certificates including any testing required for the State where the goat is to be shipped will be the responsibility of the buyer. To check the animal importation requirements for your State, go to the USDA APHIS Veterinary Services web site. You can either send us your shipping crate or we can purchase a crate of a suitable size at your expense.
Breeder Support: Along with the purchase of a Springs Run goat, we provide new owners with ongoing support. We'll demonstrate how to trim hooves and worm and if you choose to give your own immunizations, we'll also demonstrate giving an injection. We'll always be there for you to answer any questions you might have and to assist you in any way we can. We do encourage new owners to learn as much as possible about caring for goats before taking their new friends home. If you are a first time goat buyer, please read the excellent advice from Fias Co Farm on
Getting Your Goat. And for beginner and more experienced goatkeepers alike, be sure to check out the other pages on this site for a wealth of information covering nearly every aspect of goat health and husbandry. We cannot recommend this web site enough.
As with other animals, like cats, dogs and horses, caring for a goat involves commitment throughout the lifetime of the animal. Goats are intelligent, affectionate and entertaining creatures that will reward you with many years of companionship and delicious milk if properly cared for. If you are unwilling to invest in, or are financially unable to provide adequate shelter, nutrition and veterinary care, then goat ownership is NOT for you.
